The usual dose of Maxolon is: 20 + years - 10 mg every 8 hours. 15 to 20 years - 5 to 10 mg every 8 hours. 5 to 14 years - 2.5 to 5 mg every 8 hours. 3 to 5 years - 2 mg every 8 to 12 hours. Administer Maxolon continuously or intermittently: Continuous: Administer 10 to 15 mg, 30 minutes before each meal and at bedtime (maximum of 60 mg per day) for 4 to 12 weeks.

Use the parenteral route if oral absorption is compromised by vomiting. Dose reductions of up to 50% may be necessary in patients with renal impairment (CrCl<30ml/min). Dosage: Dogs and Cats: 0.2-0.5 mg/kg every 6-8 hours orally, IV or IM, or 1-2 mg/kg every 2-4 hours by continuous IV infusion, or approximately 0.1-0.2 mg/kg every hour.
